If you have ever had a grandparent or loved that has been touched by Alzheimers you know what a devastating disease it can be. It is difficult to watch as they slowly lose any memory of who you are and then fall into their own little world. There are scientific advances that are taking place to help find the cure, but right now they are looking to help slow the progress. That is why you should join with your family and neighbors in this years Alzheimer’s Memory Walk
Can the care needed be done from home? Are there community services that are available such as meals on wheels and visting nurses that can provide the same level of care required without having to leave the home. What are the credentials of the staff that will be on site? Are they registered nurses or just medical assistants? Do they bill medicare and what other types of payments or insurance do they take? You may also want to check with the local chamber of commerce or state medical agenices to find out if there have been any complaints against the facility that you are considering. The internet is a powerful resource where you can find a lot of answers to your questions and sites that are specifically tailored to senior health care and nursing home questions. Search them out before making your decision and you will be glad in the long run that you did.
